Manushi Chillar’s Guide To Being A Fashionable Bride’s Sister Without Upstaging The Woman Of The Hour Is What We Need

Manushi Chillar’s Guide To Being A Fashionable Bride’s Sister Without Upstaging The Woman Of The Hour Is What We Need

As someone who has been through the grind of watching my sister get married, I can attest to this…the bride’s sister (or brother) is the most overworked person at a wedding. Granted, we are not doing any heavy spending for the festivities, but we are instantly the go-to person for basically everything else. Any kind of food, fashion or fallout emergency becomes ours to deal with. But what makes it special is the fact that all the emergencies that are specific to the bride require our utmost attention, the rest of the guests can look after their own. I can’t even count the times I had to rush our for last-minute fittings or samosas for my sister, making my wardrobe the most dynamic at the venues!

In all the shaadi-related chaos of our sisters’, it is easy to ignore the fact that we have to get dressed as well. Sure, our moms have nothing to say when we are saving the bride’s train from getting soiled, but a misplaced strand of hair in the family picture is sure to bring about a fuss fest. There is another aspect where the bride’s sister’s wardrobe plays an important role. Given how our sisters cannot function without us, we are constantly by their side. In pictures, candid videos, we are are right there. So picking outfits that go well with the theme yet does not upstage the bride is crucial.

The same goes for celebrities as well. Parineeti Chopra lived in beautiful yellows for Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ three-day wedding. And Manushi Chillar is spending her sister’s wedding in carefully picked out clothes and accessories that are deliciously minimal, yet so beautiful.

Complement, Don’t Contrast

It seems like a good idea to do your own thing with wedding fashion but when you are the bride’s sister, there’s just no way. It makes sense to pick out matching, or at least, complementary hues of the brides lehengas and sarees, just in case one colour photographs better. Also, how cool it is that Manushi and her sister, Dewangana Chhillar, are twinning in Tarun Tahiliani at her reception?

When In Doubt, Pick Pastels

Manushi’s many pastel outfits for her sister’s wedding was in-line with the theme of the ocean-side beach wedding. We love this pretty mint number for one of the functions. The feathered dupatta is so simple yet pretty. We also love how the younger Chillar sister kept her glam, set to a minimum for all of her looks. Given how busy the bride’s sister gets throughout the wedding, picking a simple makeup look from the get-go can take the pressure off. Come through with that wet hair look, Manushi!

The Crucial Accessorising

We love how effortless and uncomplicated Manushi’s fashion is at her sister’s wedding. The easy-to-wear lovely lehengas, quick hair looks like low buns and glossy waves and fresh-faced makeup is giving us life. Her accessorising game is on point as well, breezy blingy staples and the dangerously underrated potli bag to complete her looks. All the essentials like lip balms, mini perfumes and nutty snacks I bride might need will in these bejeweled bags, no sweat!
