Lakmé Fashion Week Winter/Festive 2016 kickstarted with dazzle and drama with couturier Tarun Tahiliani’s stunning offsite show. Bollywood diva Kangana Ranaut looked ravishing as the showstopper in a black satin skirt paired with an embellished jacket.

True to the designer’s innate sense of aesthetics, the show exuded rich colours, textures, and embroidery and beautifully diffused art with fashion. The collection was inspired by artist Mrinalini Mukherjee‘s hemp and cast bronze sculptures and rightfully interpreted in a sartorial brilliance of woven textiles, crochet, fringing, and 3D prints. Flaunting shades of maroon, olive green, rust orange, and black, Tahiliani’s Fall collection had an earthy vibe, notwithstanding the attitude of an urban millennial woman.

The silhouettes flaunted Tahiliani’s artful play with drapes that were fluid and wearable at the same time. Whether it was a maxi paired with a cape, or a dhoti sari teamed with a gilet, or a shawl effortlessly thrown in with an asymmetric dress — it was a collection of mix and match, where each piece can easily be worn as separates. And what particularly caught our fancy were the cool tasseled shoes the models strutted in. They looked utterly comfortable and chic and will definitely be up on our lust list this festive season!
