Kriti Sanon Has Unlocked The Fashion Girl In Her But This Variety Is Confusing Us
I am sure Kriti Sanon’s Instagram feed is consistently impressing you. Currently, on promotion duties for her upcoming film–Bhediya, Sanon has finally unlocked her hidden fashion girl, and we are a little too obsessed. In pictures on her social media grid, we spotted the actress in a multitude of refreshing cuts, and newer designer names, whom the actress had never collaborated with. Besides a string of colour options, that finally found a spot in her wardrobe, Sanon tried, and tested a couple of new hairstyles, and gave Indian wear, a brand-new update.

In a closet full of experiments, voluminous outerwear, and cut-out dresses, Sanon manages to find a match for an athletic form. What makes the actress’ new journey with fashion more distinct is its sheer fierceness. After years of dressing up for movie promotions, Kriti seems to have finally found her grip in trends, thanks to her long-term fashion collaborator, and stylist–Sukriti Grover. In the past few weeks, this flavourful upgrade in her fashion dictionary, introduced us to beyond-boring designs. In terms of traditional dressing too, Kriti managed to help us find a sexy blouse, that is a blend of both classic, and contemporary.

What we liked about Sanon’s ever-evolving variety of styles, is the addition of highlighter dresses, and bubble boots, that put her in a unique look. But with variety in place, the idea of consistency, and a soul went missing. While cooking up this style recipe, we often witnessed Kriti in technicolour ensembles, denim-on-denim, and feather-laden jumpsuits. But did any of that help us meet Kriti’s personal taste, or her character in the upcoming film? I guess, not!

In the era of stars who masterfully market their films through a pre-defined closet of promotion looks, Sanon’s variety is confusing and merely calculative. What partially fails this sudden outburst of designs, is the over-stretched variety. Variety, that surely makes Kriti, Bollywood’s new it girl, but tells us very little about her role, the one she’s tirelessly promoting.

This hidden problem in Sanon’s sartorial choices, also fails to tell us what she prefers. Hiding beneath this pile of clothes is Kriti’s personal take on fashion, which merely marks its attendance. This also brings me to share my unpopular opinion on her first outing as Dr Anika Kothari, (her character in Bhediya), at the trailer launch. While many questioned Kriti’s Velma-inspired bob, coupled with a strapless dress, weird, I found it an amusing way of promoting the film. Much like Alia Bhatt’s white-dress code for Gangubai Kathiawadi promotions, Kriti’s bob could have been an interesting element in her looks for Bhediya‘s press tour. A missed opportunity, we think! This brewing design diversity again brings us to point zero, the stage where we questioned Kriti’s sartorial taste.

Nevertheless we are happy to see the effort, and knowing that Kriti is moving towards the right direction. On the professional front, Kriti Sanon will be seen next to Varun Dhawan in the upcoming film–Bhediya. Sanon was also announced as one of the three leading ladies, of producer/stylist–Rhea Kapoor’s next project. Titled–The Crew, Kriti will share screen space with Kareena Kapoor Khan, and Tabu.
