Bollywood celebrities never fail to inspire our fashion choices. From being trendsetters to influencing our shopping carts, these celebs are literally everywhere on our mood boards. Much like our favourite stars, actress Katrina Kaif remains a popular inspiration when it comes to fashion. Unlike most actresses, Kaif has a very minimal sense of personal style. Especially when it comes to desi, and ethics, the actress enjoys a variety of designs that help her strike that balance. And the birthday girl’s approach towards styling a saree, and anarkali is our favourite. Check it out here.

Minimal Love

A dream for minimalists, Katrina’s selection in the category of kalidaars, comes in muted colours. Like this Tarun Tahiliani kalidaar on her, features detailed chikankari, tonal thread embroidery with embellished dabka and tilla work. The shadow embroidery design is further accentuated with a two-patterned neckline, and a matching dupatta, with chaandbalis in place. She further balances this desi look with open hair and her signature subtle makeup.

Wedding Special

Katrina’s desi fashion for her wedding, was a love at first sight for us. With a closet full of custom-made Sabyasachi pieces, Kaif experimented with a variety of embroidery patterns and an Indian colour palette. From her wedding trousseau, our favourite was the veil saree by Sabya, which paid homage to both her and Vicky Kaushal’s cultural backgrounds. The unique couture-met-ethnic design featured intricate floral details, decorating the blouse, with see-through net pallu, and a floor-sweeping train. She further layered her neckline with a jadau neckpiece, matching earrings and subtle makeup.

Sharara Saree

With ethnic style, Kaif enjoys embracing the idea of functionality. Through a roomy sharara saree in red, the actress brought a beautiful blend between two clothing categories. The crumpled, minimal appliqué design with a slim pallu, was accessorised with traditional jhumkas and bangles, teamed with her signature hair and makeup look.

Sass Queen

For the promotional cycle of her film–Phone Bhoot, the actress introduced us to a sassy version of the India-loved saree. The combination between a green shirt blouse, bright pink saree, sneakers and hair fringe made up a fabulous new ensemble. We love how Kaif moulded the saree into a street style staple.

Happy birthday queen Kat!
