Celebrating 23 Years Of Kareena Kapoor In Bollywood And Her P.H.A.T. Film Fashion

Kareena Kapoor has had a 23-year-long career, which btw is one of the most iconic in Bollywood. The actress is possibly one of the Hindi film industry’s most versatile and favourite stars. Besides taking up some tricky roles, Kapoor is also known for her impeccable fashion in films. From Geet in Jab We Met to Chameli’s saree and Poo in K3G never has Kareena not been a trendsetter for her generation and many more to come. And as the star celebrates her 23 years in the film industry today, we look back at some of her most impactful fashionable wardrobes in films.

Main Prem Ki Deewani Hoon

In the 2003 film, Kareena essayed the role of Sanjana, who falls for the wrong Prem. The star’s extremely chic closet includes tons of sequins, pastel hues and denim. As Sanjana, Kareena played along the idea of trendy cuts, date night dresses and glossy makeup, styled by Manish Malhotra.

Chameli

Very early on in her career, Kapoor took on the challenging role of a sex worker Chameli. For the same, the star experimented with statement red sarees, striking prints, red lip colour and embellished barrettes. Kapoor’s character Chameli still remains one of the most iconic roles in her filmography and reminds us of her versatility.

Jab We Met

As Geet in Jab We Met, Kareena played a chirpy, Punjabi girl who made salwaars, a leading street style trend. Envisioned by her longtime designer friend and collaborator–Manish Malhotra, Jab We Met gifted us with one of the most memorable roles by Kapoor and some interesting salwaar suit designs that were worth bookmarking.

Asoka

In the 2001 film–Aśoka, Kareena Kapoor plays the part of Kaurwaki, princess of Kalinga. In the period drama, Kapoor can be seen sporting draped skirts, tribal face tattoos, wet hair and unleashing a sensual, sexy side to herself. Her raw and urban look became the trendsetter of its time.

Kabhie Khushi Kabhi Gham

No one can ever forget Poo from K3G. In the Dharma production film, Kareena played Poo, delivering dialogues and the biggest fashion trends of the early 2000s. In the Karan Johar directorial, Kapoor might not be one of the most sensible characters, but her fashion sense was better than most. Backless scarf tops, latex red coord sets and baguettes weaved one of Bollywood’s most fashionable characters on screen for us.

Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu

In the 2012 film opposite Imran Khan, Kareena took up the role of hairstylist Riana. The feel-good film presented Kapoor in a bundle of tailored blue dresses, boots and pink hair streaks. I still remember being obsessed with her hair colour, barrettes and dresses.

Kareena Kapoor was always known for curating fashion trends, but her figure inspired fans to take on the size zero challenge. Flaunting her washboard abs, the actress wore a couple of sexy bikinis, cropped tops, and low-waist denim jeans. Didn’t we all fall in love with her in the song–“Chhaliya?”

Veere Di Wedding

In the Rhea Kapoor film, Kareena as Kalindi took the leading spot amongst her three best friends. In the film surrounding the story of her marriage, relationships, and more, Kapoor exhibited a slice of her stylish avatar through interesting wedding fashion. Besides all that she wore in the film, after delivering her firstborn Taimur, the actress’ wedding lehenga by designers Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla stood out.
