Kangana Ranaut Does Contemporary Indian Wear And It’s The Prettiest She Has Ever Looked

It is true what they say about us desi girls…nothing makes us look prettier than ethnic wear. There has been a slow but gradual shift among young women when it comes to their buying behavior. It is not just about occasions anymore, Indian wear staples have become an essential part of our wardrobes. Cotton sarees, salwar suits, ethnic skirts, and jackets and much more. It is an exciting prospect for us because the market is brimming with designers and retailers creating affordable and smarter clothes that you can wear on the daily.

Contemporary Indian fashion is gaining momentum with the popular kids as well, most recently seen on Kangana Ranaut in the form of solid looks in just the past week. The actress has been promoting her next Panga, which is a heartfelt story of a young mother trying her hand at making a comeback in competitive Kabaddi. To match her character from the film, stylist Ami Patel has designed her promotional fashion as simple, relatable and focussed on highlighting one’s natural features with complementory colours and easy lines. We are loving how pretty Kangana looks in her flow-y kurtas and shiny kaftans, take a look!

Easy Silks

If your favourite comforter came to life in the form of a salwar kameez, this is how it would look, I imagine. The breezy red handmade kurta paired with charcoal grey pajama and dupatta comes from newbie Priya Parikh and is very charming without trying too hard.

Dewy Kaftans

First, how cool is it to see Kangana in the classic curly-haired girl messy bun? I can relate! The Anamika Khanna baby pink Kaftan kurti is paired with a fared dhoti pyjama and heavy danglers to match the gold lace detailing. Simply elegant.

Fusion Stripes

There are more than a few ways to do stunning Indo-Western looks than just wearing crop tops with dhoti pants (a style btw, I could never get behind). The monotone ensemble from label Eka is made up of a boat neck dress paired with matching pants and dupatta. Psst…it also comes in silver and you can buy it here.

Indulgent Embroidery

Designer duo Shyamal and Bhumika are known for their dabbles in unconventional colours for ethnic wear and this olive green ensemble is proof of how well it works. I love the touch of pitta work (metal wire embroidery) in simple kurtis, they make them a little heavy and lot fancier.

Punjabi Kudi

How totally adorable is this Rimple & Harpreet Narula ensemble?! Kangana looks like a Russian doll in this silhouette and colour, and that has left us looking at ur screen with the biggest googly-eyes. The embroidery is rich and the zari work luxurious, you don’t really need anything else to complete this.

While we did love most of Kangana’s looks from last week, there is one that we wish was toned down a little. This Raw Mango set was created with glossy yellow separates and a brocade kimono-style jacket, which we would have loved to see take its own form without the waist cinch. It does get saved by that simple center-part hair look though!
