Billionaire Isha Ambani just walked the Met Gala red carpet and we are stunned! Donning a custom Gaurav Gupta, the daughter of Mukesh Ambani and Nita Ambani wore a saree to the global event carrying centuries of Indian art and heritage. While we will delve into the details for this one, it is worth noting that her blouse has over 1,000 diamonds and precious stones which totals over 1,800 carats created by 40 artisans across India.

Styled by Anaita Shroff Adajania, the back of her saree holds a traditional jewelled ornament called the Sarpech that originally comes from the turban once worn by the Nizam of Hyderabad. It has antique emerald beads along with some rose-cut and table-cut diamonds which are set with a Kundan. For the unversed, this is an old Indian trick where stones are set in gold without prongs. While we cannot see the back of the Sarpech, it has meenakari.
Interestingly the outfit had many standouts and one of them was a collection of necklaces from her mother Nita Ambani’s personal collection. They are of our 150 carats of old mine-cut diamonds with one of them anchored by a 50-carats created emerald from Lorraine Schwartz. Describing the look, Adajania wrote, “Together, the pieces form a seamless dialogue between past and present, where Indian craftsmanship meets enduring materials like diamonds, emeralds, pearls, and gold, resulting in a language that feels both timeless and quietly modern.”

She completed her look with a jasmine hair sculpture, inspired by the traditional mogra Paranda and a Gajra. Each jasmine bud and bloom was created from paper, copper, and brass with Indian panini paint individually hand-made over 150 hours by a Brooklyn-based artists, Sourabh Gupta. The star of the show for us was Isha Ambani’s mango purse. As much as it looks like a real mango, it’s a steal sculpture made by Subodh Gupta.
