ICW’24: Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina Turn Showstoppers For Gaurav Gupta Showcasing Boring Ensembles
Rumoured love birds Khushi Kapoor and Vedang Raina turn showstoppers for Gaurav Gupta!

India Couture Week 2024 saw Khushi Kapoor and Vedang Raina as they took the stage as showstoppers for designer Gaurav Gupta’s latest collection, Arunodaya. The event in Mumbai drew attention from the fashion industry, eager to see Gaurav Gupta’s new work. Arunodaya, inspired by the Sanskrit words Arun (dawn) and Udaya (rise or daybreak), reflects the early light of dawn. The collection represents the transformation from night to day, symbolizing hope, renewal, and new beginnings.
Khushi Kapoor, Vedang Raina’s Look As Showstoppers
Khushi Kapoor donned a silver lehenga paired with a beaded blouse featuring cape-style sleeves. While the high-waisted lehenga boasted intricate geometric stone patterns and metallic tones, critics felt the overall look lacked cohesion. The cape-style sleeves, intended to add drama, seemed to overwhelm her frame rather than complement it. The multi-layered choker, although stylish, did little to elevate the ensemble, and the voluminous waves in her hair felt outdated and overly styled. The neutral makeup, intended to be understated, came across as too bland, failing to enhance her natural beauty.

Vedang Raina appeared in a tailored sherwani with a high neckline and long sleeves, embellished with shimmering black beadwork. While its design focused on sophistication for this sherwani, others found it predictable. According to some observers the addition of beads was excessive without delicacy, especially with regards to their dressings like those trousers whose blackness matched with straight fitting ones used along brogues are neither viewed as creative nor enhancing their dressing code overall.

FDIC showcased Gaurav Gupta’s Arunodaya collection, his theme being the colours and designs that represent very early morning when everything is still dark around. The colour palette was inspired by colors of the morning sky and it included a mix of Indian Zardozi techniques and surreal embroidery. To make it a well-rounded collection, different shades such as white, ivory pearl, comet blue, petal pink, mauve, slate, sand Bordeaux and lava were used.
