Simi’s Steals: A Long Shirtdress With Jeans
One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: Every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 10,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!
Among all the fashion hybrids that people have accepted into their wardrobes, the shirtdress is a stylish piece that’s been on-trend for several seasons now. Whether you’re cinching your waist with a belt to convert a longline shirt into a dress or working a shirtdress as your daytime ensemble, this is a silhouette that imparts immense sartorial swag. I particularly like a shirtdress, the main reason being it suits every body type. While the rest of the world views it as just another button-down dress that’s dominating high street labels and runways, fashionistas like you and I will never doubt its styling potential. Work it with a duster jacket and a pair of mules, add a short skirt and allow a peek-a-boo of the hemline, pair it with a contrast-hued cropped shirt for a colour-blocked effect; the options are many.
For this week’s Style Steals, my key piece is an H&M long-sleeved midi shirtdress made of two patterned weaves and flared slightly at the hem. Botanical prints are all the rage right now, and if you’re like me (and on an extended spring break!), here’s a piece that will help you with just that. While you can wear the shirtdress as is, I’ve teamed it up with a pair of skinny cropped jeans from Mango, frayed at the hem. Since there’s so much going on in terms of colour and print on the dress, I’ve kept the accessories neutral; flatform sandals from Nineteen and a cute cross-body bag from Mango. Accessorise with a lovely bar neckpiece from Blur and a ring from Fayon and there you go, you’re ready to rock the world!
