Hear, Hear! Badshah Says Discussing Sex Won’t Weaken One’s Manhood. Somebody Hand This Man A Loudspeaker!

There are things that are simply not discussed in an Indian family. Like how insanely psychotic our relatives are. Or how one person’s sexist jokes on a Whatsapp group are driving you up the wall. And sex. No one talks about sex. We all pretend we were born from flowers banging their petals together or something. So imagine how awkward it would be to watch a sex comedy together. And Khandaani Shafakhana is supposed to be that – a wholesome, family sex comedy!?! Well, if the poster is anything to by, that’s what it is. And Badshah, one of the cooler rappers around is making his acting debut with this movie. Which is cool but in a movie that talks about sex? Pretty out there, no?

Badshaah says he doesn’t think so. That talking about sex doesn’t weaken one’s manhood and this sentence made us want to immediately hand him a microphone so he could let all the other men know. And if a man says it, they will probably listen.

We are so thrilled that someone popular should say something like this. This is the first time that a female lead will be tackling or even talking about sex this openly. Sonakshi Sinha looks like she will absolutely nail it. Before this, a couple of movies have talked about sex and the different aspects of it but they’ve always had men playing the central role. No, scratch that, they always have Ayushmann Khurana playing the role. You know, the likes of Vicky Donor and Shubh Mangal Savdhaan.

When asked about whether the audience is ready for something like this, Badshaah said, “Yes, that is the issue we have tried to tackle in this movie. It’s the age-old thinking that girls cannot and do not talk about sex. Also, we have huge a generation gap. Our generation is far more aware of sex-related problems as compared to our previous generation. It is this gap in thinking that we are trying to bridge through this film, because there is no other way to put it. Sex ko sex hi bologe, aur kya bologe? I think that is how it should be and the sooner we start talking about it without any inhibitions, the better it is. We have projected that idea in a humorous way because reality can get overbearing at times, and that’s when humour comes into play.”

Of course, these are different times. Growing up, did he discuss sex with his parents? Badshah said, Absolutely not, and that is why this project appealed to me a lot. Agar meri itni frank conversation hoti about sex, toh mujhe yeh mudda hi nahin lagta. We could not talk about sex with our parents , which is why we could not understand so many things — like the importance of using a condom, and the fact that some of the disorders to do with sex are curable. Sex problems discuss karne se aapka manhood nahi chala jayega.”

Now only if someone would take this line and plaster it all over the country, we would appreciate it very much. Thanks!

Seen it all?

We’ve got more!
