#HauteStreets: Exploring The Musical Streets Of Shillong

#HauteStreets: Exploring The Musical Streets Of Shillong

The people of Shillong take their fashion seriously, strutting out of Sunday mass in sky-high heels. Young boys and girls dress like they are ready to be snapped in the street at any given time. Hence, #HauteStreets is here in the Scotland of the East — Shillong — for its fourth episode.

In this episode, we explore the influence of music on the style of the rock capital of India, and who better to explain the influences of music on Shillong’s style than the Tetseo Sisters, who are the musical superstars of the North East.

Since high street brands haven’t reached Shillong yet, the young boys and girls here make the most of their creativity and style themselves with one-of-a-kind thrift store finds, and their own local flavour. The very stylish, Lee Middleton, who is a style and fashion enthusiast as well as a makeup artist, along with, Model Jessica Ruth Cunville further talk about how music influences their everyday style.

Our host, Scherezade Shroff Talwar also explored the markets of Shillong that are a favourite with the locals, so you know where to shop the next time you’re here.

Last but not the least, we paid a visit to Daniel Syiem, the Co-Founder, Creative Head and Lead Designer at Daniel Syiem’s Ethnic Fashion House. Daniel is responsible for putting Shillong’s style aesthetic on the street style map, and pretty much brought the concept of designer wear into the city!

So sit back, watch on, and soak in all the style inspiration!
