By  |

Every day is a new and stylish day in the fashion biz. In fact, it is never far from surprising, sometimes wow-worthy and other times sigh-inducing. From changing and reviving trends to fresh fashion collaborations, funky new launches or even relaunches, or even shocking disclosures of designers quitting storied labels for new ones, there’s so much buzz on a day-to-day basis. But while some of the information is noteworthy, there are the BIG scoops that shape the future of the industry. And that’s exactly what we’re here to share with you. In our monthly Best of Fashion series, we round up some of the best new releases, collabs, launches, and the works of fashion. This is everything you NEED to know.

1. Masaba X Koovs

Masaba’s collaboration with favourite e-commerce site Koovs was totally off the rails! The athleisure wear capsule collection is a combination of quirky prints in the forms of chocolate, chewing gum, and dumbells! Rad, right? Designer Masaba is known for her funky prints, but bringing it together seamlessly to workout clothes looks utterly fab. Wear it to the gym, or for brunch with the girls, the pieces are your everyday fashion statements, but with that crazy twist.

2. Sabyasachi Dropped His Latest Collection On Insta

Ace designer Sabyasachi dropped his spring couture collection 2017, once again through his official Instagram account. The collection, called The Udaipur Collection, is an inspiration from Rajasthan royalty. The pieces reflect grandiose (it is Sabya, after all) and refers to palaces, the Sheesh Mahal, maharanis, and everything else that defines royalty.

3. Lakmé Fashion Week Summer/Resort ’17 Ended with a bang

I am pretty sure by now you know that Lakmé Fashion Week took place at the beginning of the month. The fashion-friendly event took place over 5 days at Jio Garden, BKC Mumbai, and showcased several labels, such as Payal Singhal, Tarun Tahiliani, Label by Ritu Kumar, and Anita Dongre. The latter being the grand finale to the event, Kareena Kapoor Khan was the showstopper and boy, was her comeback post-baby amazinnnng.

4. Pernia’s Pop-Up Shop Launches ISDI Parsons Student

Final year students from ISDI Parsons got the opportunity to showcase their collections in front of a panel of judges, including known names of the industry, such as Pernia Qureshi and Nikhil Thampi. After 10 months of blood, sweat, and designs, 4 fashion brands were developed by the students. This is the first time in the country that a such a big luxury portal is collaborating with design institutes to help launch and develop student brands. Asvaga, the ready-to-wear label that finally took the crown, is now available to shop online at Pernia’s Pop Up Shop.

5. Hijabi Girl Walks Ramp FOR THE FIRST TIME EVER

For the first time in international fashion history, a Hijabi girl has walked the ramp for designer labels. Breaking the norm of fashion stereotypes, Kanye featured Halima Aden a Somali-American in his latest runway collection at NYFW. Post that Halima was also spotted strutting the ramp at MFW, for designer Max Mara. It’s great to know that the fashion world is breaking barriers and making statements!
