But while some of the information is noteworthy, there are the BIG scoops that shape the future of the industry. And that’s exactly what we’re here to share with you.

1. Indian Designers Win Woolmark ’16-17

Homegrown labels Antar-Agni and Bodice won the 2016-2017 International Woolmark Prize, Indian Subcontinent and the Middle East. The homegrown Indian designers impressed the panel at the event held in Dubai.

Antar-Agni’s collections took inspiration from nomadic tribesmen of India, fused in with an urban style of fashion, while Bodice brought out the boldness in a more contemporary collection.

The 2 labels won a whopping amount of AUS $200,000 (approx Rs. 1.02 cr) and got an opportunity to have their collections distributed across international brands. How exciting!

2. Anita Dongre opens her stores in the Big Apple

Anita Dongre became the first-ever India-based designer to open a flagship store in NYC. Grassroot, the designer’s newest brand is now available to shop in SoHo’s Broome Street!

3. Payal Singhal Occasion Wear

Designer Payal Singhal has introduced a new occasion wear line, with her signature prints and contemporary designs. The exclusive printed line is perfect for the upcoming festivities and has a range of high-low tunics, short blouses, off-shoulder crops, palazzos, and sarees, all with a floral print touch to it.

Keeping her signature cuts and silhouettes in mind, Singhal blends western-wear with contemporary Indian fashion, using light-weighted fabrics, such as crepe, dupion silk, mul mul, and raw silk. This collection is a must-have for those who’d like to make that Indo-western fusion statement.

4. Sabyasachi Jewellery

Ace designer Sabyasachi launched his jewellery collection and we’re at a loss of words. The gorgeous Sabyasachi Fine and Heritage Jewellery is an exquisite collection that has been inspired by his grandmother’s jewellery, and of course, that era.

Reminiscent of the 1920s, the jewellery is an ode to the era gone by and represents the strong women of the time, such as Frida Kahlo, Edith Plaf, and Devika Rani.

Tiny but fierce, our Fashion & Beauty Writer grooves to her own soundtrack. An animal lover at heart, she plays proxy mommy to pretty much all the strays she meets.
