Supermodel Gigi Hadid Defends Her Right To Dress Comfy By Calling Out Fans Who Criticised Her. More Power To Her

Here’s what we know about supermodel Gigi Hadid. She is one half of the fiercest supermodel sister duo working in fashion right now. At 24, she is already a successful businesswoman, has collaborated with Tommy Hilfiger and has a beauty line that’s fabulous. She is also very vocal about unhealthy body perceptions among models, relying on a healthy and active lifestyle to maintain a fit frame instead.

Here’s something we also know about Gigi, she doesn’t take sh*t from anyone. The person who can gracefully escort a gate crasher at the Paris Fashion is certainly not going to be shaded by people online. This is exactly what happened when stepped out in skin tight leggings, sweats and a puffer jacket yesterday evening in NYC.

The paparazzi shot was making its rounds on Twitter when one user commented, “she’s such a natural beauty… idk what happened to her iconic street style tho.” To this, the fan account @doublegiforce retweeted the photo with the comment, “What happened is called Mimi.” This was a jab at Gigi’s stylist Mimi Cuttrell, who also styles our resident favourite fashion girl Priyanka Chopra Jonas. Gigi follows the fan account herself and the unfair shade at her longtime collaborator did not go down with her. She wrote a scathing response in a series of tweets, calling out her fans for their hypocrisy, drawing focus the kind of pressure celebrities have to be to look great.

We can see why Gigi would be infuriated at something like this. It is exhausting enough to be a celebrity constantly living in the public eye, but also to be criticised for what you wear every time you step out for even the smallest errand, must be worse. She wasn’t going to a red carpet, she was just out and about, chilling. Although, we wouldn’t mind seeing her rock a puffer jacket on the red carpet either.

Gigi also commented on the fact that her fans always call her out for not showing enough skin. The model is knowns for creating high fashion looks that are relatively more covered. And that’s completely her choice. Her stylist Mimi addressed this back in 2018 at the CFDAs, saying, “I think that you don’t need to show skin to be sexy. It’s more about how you carry yourself and being effortless. “For [Gigi], for the CFDAs, I wanted her to make a high-fashion statement. She wore The Row and was completely covered up, and she looked so beautiful.”. Uhm, hell yeah she did!

Gigi’s outburst has caused a wave of responses from people on the internet. This is one of the rare moments where a celebrity has addressed trolling online rather than ignoring it, which is the norm usually. We do see this being more effective though. If you don’t stand up against online bullying, it’ll just keep happening. Good on you, Gigi!
