From Urvashi Rautela To Ruchi Gujjar, All The Worst Looks At Cannes 2025 That Terribly Hurt Our Eyes!

The Cannes Film Festival is an international stage where now clothes talk louder than words, but not all style statements ring true. This time, a number of Indian celebrities made waves for all the wrong reasons, painting looks that were more confusing than couture. From the excessive use of embellishments to the conflicting ideas, here’s a look at the weirdest red carpet appearances at Cannes 2025.

1) Urvashi Rautela

Urvashi Rautela's Rs 4.6 lakh parrot clutch stole the spotlight at Cannes 2025, and the internet has questions

Urvashi Rautela, who is famous for her outrageous Cannes appearances, once again raised eyebrows of fashion observers. At this year’s event, she arrived on the red carpet wearing a strapless evening dress that resembled a combination of all sorts of possible crayon colours, blue, red, yellow, without being harmonious. What really stole (and destroyed) the show, however, was a crystal-encrusted parrot pouch and a tiara to match. Whereas accessories are supposed to take a look to the next level, these seemed rather tacky and gimmicky, detracting from her entire appearance. The social media space was abuzz with memes as people wondered why she was French-kissing the parrot-shaped handbag like it was the Palme d’Or.

2) Ruchi Gujjar

Ruchi Gujjar’s red carpet debut rather suddenly went from fashion to politics. Wearing a necklace that had the face of Prime Minister Narendra Modi printed on it, Ruchi used the Cannes carpet as a stage of individual tribute. While it’s understandable to be patriotic, a formal film festival environment is perhaps not the best place for it. Her lehenga, laden with mirror work and ornate embroidery, was garish compared to the pizzazz that usually characterises Cannes.

3) Aditi Rao Hydari

Normally, a vision of elegance, Aditi Rao Hydari played it too safe this time around. Her Rahul Mishra off-shoulder gown, though exquisite in detail, did not make a massive statement. Coupled with a boring hairdo and makeup that did not pack enough punch, the look did not live up to this style icon’s potential. Cannes is the moment to make a bold statement, not get lost in the crowd.

4) Sonam Chhabra

Sonam Chhabra attempted a political and visual statement with her Phoenix Rising ensemble, but the execution was lacking. Heavy silver jewellery, winged breastplates, and an embroidered jacket paying homage to terror attacks weighed her down. The spirit was perhaps good, but the overall aesthetic was more costume than couture, which Cannes fashion does not allow.

5) Simran Balar Jain

Simran Balar Jain Stuns on the Cannes 2025 Red Carpet!

Simran Balar Jain’s first look had a strong story, but the fashion just didn’t come through. Her corset, made of recycled metal and featuring a design of women supporting one another, was supposed to be a symbol of empowerment, but it resembled more like a wearable sculpture than wearable fashion. Worn with a simple black satin dress, the look was disjointed and heavy, taking away from the message she was trying to create.
