From Toga Sarees To Crimson Bodycons, Fashion At The Sabyasachi Show Was Fascinating

Over the weekend, ace designer Sabyasachi Mukherjee celebrated twenty years in fashion with a spectacular fashion show. The show marked the release of  Sabya’s passion project Kashgaar Bazaar, an ode to his first collection at college, NIFT Kolkata. It also featured his coveted collaboration with French fashion label Christian Louboutin on a range of shoes and handbags. This global collection was lauded by the industry and fashion enthusiasts alike, many of whom were themselves present at the event. This includes many of his fashionable muses, who all wore his designs, and gave us fascinating fashion moments.

All the guests at this gala show wore Sabyasachi, obviously. But that did not let the tone of the event get repetitive, instead, every outfit was unique with charming details any fashionista will love.

Ananya Panday

Once we were done with marvelling over the deconstructed silk blouse, it’s the skirt that got our undivided attention. The golden floral embroidered skirt is the mini to put all minis to shame. We also love the contrast of the black top and that skirt hem. The strappy stiletto details amp up the glam and we love it.

Alia Bhatt

Sabyasachi’s sarees are more than just nine yards of fabric, they all tell a story. Same can be said about Alia’s toga saree, flowy with a one shoulder drape and a belted silhouette. This explosion of prints is a new look for the actress, who trends to be in safe, solid colours. The ruffled saree is a departure for her, one that we are sure she enjoyed.

Janhvi Kapoor

In our books, this might just be the best look from Janhvi till now! The embroidered bodycon dress perfectly complements her feminine frame and the classic bridal red hue adds to the drama. We especially love the minimal accessorising and fresh-faced makeup.

Isha Ambani

Stepping out of her comfort zone a bit, Isha Ambani wore a sheer ruffled saree paired with the statement Sabyasachi logo belt. The attractive green emerald earrings add a charming touch to the all-black look. Much like Alia’s, this cinched saree look might just become a thing in the coming months.  We called it first!

Aditi Rao Hydari

Aditi Rao Hydari’s styling has always been a fusion of innocence with an old world charm, a look that checks all the boxes yet can be deceptively difficult to recreate. Yet, she manages to do exactly that with this grey printed, beige saree that almost looks like second skin on her. The sneaky cape detail in the saree deserves its time in the sun, in our opinion.

Kalki Koechlin

Sheath dresses never looked this fun! Frequent collaborator Kalki Koechlin gave a special shoutout to Sabyasachi for his support in the beginning of her career. This casually fitted, embroidered dress is elevated because of her natural charm. Blink once and you might miss the white rabbit detail on her hem, Alice In Wonderland inspired, maybe?

Natasha Poonawalla

Everybody is aware of business mogul Natasha Poonawalla’s love for fashion and that is in full effect with this dramatic gown. You’d think that two OTT trimmings would be conflicting but boy does she make it work!
