Day 1 at FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week was a celebration of glitter and Indian weaves. A part of the lineup were designers from Samant Chauhan, and Tarun Tahiliani to renowned fashion labels like–Geisha Designs, Noughtone and more. Walking in the creations by these popular names were actors Alaya F and Jim Sarbh, who made a dazzling entry on the runway. What we observed this season was a bouquet of daring silhouettes, embellished with detailed embroidery work, and tassels. Check out the key highlights from these collections here.
Geisha Designs
Geisha Designs by Paras and Shalini made a remarkable entry on the runway with their cocktail and evening wear collection–Profusion. With their signature sequin-encrusted bustiers, ruffles and chandelier chic embroidery work in place, the celebration of glitter took centerstage. Walking for the designer duo, actress Alaya F stunned in a sexy strapless bustier top, teamed with matching pants. The peppy number in charcoal black was embellished with ivory and black tassels, with a hint of naked, see-through fabric detail.
Ashish N Soni
Next up was designer Ashish N Soni, who revisited the retro era for his latest collection. Pinstripe suits, half vests, and plaid took centre stage in Soni’s latest collection. His homage to the age of 70s was captured through crisp tailoring, pantsuits, monochrome prints and corset belts. With a hint of retro romance, he played with colours, funky fruit-printed blazers, and geometric patterns.
Varun Bahl
With no starry showstopper, designer Varun Bahl’s creative ode to festive fashion was presented on day 1. The designer’s Fall 2023 collection was an extension of his exclusive range–Inner Bloom. Playing with prints, and pussy bow necklines, Bahl’s creative mood board was filled with 3D appliqué embroidery patches, silk and custom-woven eco-friendly R-Elan fabric. Her further played with texture and structure to give festive fashion, a unique spin.
Tarun Tahiliani
Ace designer Tarun Tahiliani marked his return to the FDCI X Lakmé Fashion Week runway in collaboration with Kohler. Tahiliani’s ode to festive fashion was a rich tapestry of vibrant colours and exquisite motifs, which resonated with the core aesthetic followed by Kohler. Perfectly fitting the memo of cocktail glam, the collection featured a wide variety of pre-draped sarees, twinkling pallus, corset blouses and loud shoulders.
