How To Style Oversized Kurtas Like Genelia Deshmukh

Actress Genelia Deshmukh has a very interesting personal style. From jewellery to traditional Indian clothes, Deshmukh’s eye for detail is seen through her sartorial experiments. A hoarder of prints, and silver jewellery, the actress’ kurta collection is no less spectacular. From embroidered pieces to belted designs, let’s take a look at some of our favourite pieces from her collection, and learn how to style an oversized kurta like the star!

Angrakha Tales

In the most traditional formats, styling an angrakha kurta shouldn’t be a drill. Like Deshmukh, pick a beige, oversized design, with a deep v-neckline, lapels and crumpled fabric, embroidered with floral patches in off-white. Combining the same, Genelia added a dupatta around her folded arms to give some edge to her look. Besides that, she added a white rose to her hair and silver jewellery.

Velvet Dreams

Another interesting way of styling an oversized printed kurta, is to get your hands on a pleated number. The low-cut, velvet kurta, embellished with borders and coin edges was styled using a pair of wide-legged printed pants. To give it a statement spin, Deshmukh added a massive nose ring and dainty temple earrings.

Cinch It Up

Genelia tutored a super easy way to style an oversized kurta, with a belt around her waist. Styling a classic Payal Khandwala design, Genelia wore a printed, anti-fit silhouette with a black buckle belt, red heels and edgy earrings in silver. Adding a belt around your waist, not only adds more detail to the ensemble but also helps create a neat silhouette.

Go Traditional

Genelia is a keeper of traditional Indian prints designs and embroideries. The actress cherishes a stack of Indian silhouettes like sharara sets. And while styling one of these, Genelia picked a simple design with a short, oversized kurta, and added a light-coloured sharara set to give it more volume.
