Alia Bhatt, Kajol And More Bollywood Actresses Who Braved A Saree In The Snow

Bollywood’s idea of romance has always been a dream-like setup. Gifting us a song for every mausam, these actresses made some impeccable saree choices through popular films. This long-lived and loved formula of romancing in a saree, against the backdrop of snow-clad mountains, has been a successfully applied by many films. And doing so again is Karan Johar in his latest film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani‘s new song–“Tum Kya Mile.” Featuring Alia Bhatt in mesmerising Manish Malhotra sarees, the romantic new looks of the star have us going back in time, reminiscing the picturesque views of every romantic Bollywood song, that featured sarees and snow.

Alia Bhatt as Rani Chatterjee in her upcoming film Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahaani, looks lovely in designer Manish Malhotra saree. In the film’s newly released song–“Tum Kya Mile,” Bhatt brings peppy coral-coloured drapes to the screen, that are here to set a trend. From bow-laden blouses to ombré pallus, she romances sarees in the snow. 

Sridevi

The OG Yash Chopra heroine–Sridevi, introduced us to the concept of saree and snow in her cult-favourite film Chandni. The actress, dressed by Bhanu Athaiya wore lace-laden yellow, and pink sarees, while romancing actor Rishi Kapoor. For a special song in the film, Sridevi wore a bundle of these romantic drapes and kickstarted a new trend, which Bollywood blindly followed.

Aishwarya Rai Bachchan

In the 2000 film Mohabbatein, Aishwarya served some fashionable moments in a saree. Dancing alongside Shah Rukh Khan, Rai tried and tested the formula of a Bollywood heroine, dancing in sarees, against snow-clad mountains in the film. For the song “Humko Humise Churalo,” Aish wore bright pink and ice blue sarees, with interesting lace designs and halter-neck blouses. 

Anushka Sharma 

Reliving every girl’s Bollywood dream, Anushka Sharma as Alizeh in Karan Johar’s Ae Dil Hai Mushkil, recreated the idea of a girl in saree, braving the snow. Alongside Ranbir Kapoor, Sharma wore two sarees in a special segment, in colours bright red and yellow. Again designed by Manish Malhotra, Anushka also recreated the epic poses from the film Chandni, while Ranbir Kapoor impersonated Rishi Kapoor’s character in the film. 

Kriti Sanon

For her debut film–Heropanti, Kriti Sanon turned into a classic Hindi film heroine. Romancing co-star Tiger Shroff, Sanon wore a bundle of interesting net sarees in colours salmon pink, electric blue and yellow in the song–“Rabba.” Some of her blouse designs featured heavy electric blue embroidery and turned out to be a favourite amongst girls from the era.

Yami Gautam 

In her film–Sanam Re, opposite Pulkit Samrat, Yami also romanced the concept of sarees and snow. For the film’s titular song, the actress was seen wearing a lovely blue saree with a puff-sleeved blouse in the shade white. Her look in the film was romantic and dreamy. 

Kajol

The iconic on-screen jodi of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol have gifted us with some popular romantic tracks, and a dress code that every couple dreams of recreating. In their popular film DDLJ’s song–“Tujhe Dekha Toh Yeh Jana Sanam,” Kajol wore some impeccable sarees with interesting jewellery pieces and sexy blouses.
