In an exclusive conversation with us, the actress spoke about her unique saree styling looks and said–”I like to keep it simple and I love colours. Punit Balana and I were actually discussing how we both love Rani Pink. We’re obsessed with colours. But then you have to give it a break. And then I occasionally do like a white. I also love white, even though it’s colourless. I think there’s a sense of purity. So it really depends on what the vibe is. If I want to go vintage I’ll do a modern saree with vintage jewellery. Or if it’s a vintage saree look, then I’ll do it with modern jewels. I like to keep it unconventional and set a trend. That’s always been my thing.”

Having collaborated with Punit Balana in the past, the actress mentioned what she loves about the designer’s creations–” I love what I’m wearing. I love the skirt. I think it’s something that you can wear in the day and you can dress it up and wear it in the night. I love the fact that he uses the most amazing colour palettes. I don’t know if it’s only for me. I think it’s all things Rajasthani, with a dash of Balana touch. I remember he also did this saree for me to wear during Ganesh Chaturthi 2022. I remember telling him that I didn’t want to do the usual. I do want to wear a saree. So, he gave it a modern twist.”

Adding to this, Balana mentioned–”So, the last time I was dressing up for Ganpati, I showed her some lehariya sarees, but they had regular drapes. She was like– “It’s beautiful but I need something with a modern twist to it.” And that’s what I love about her. She’s very clear in her thoughts that this is what she wants and this is what she likes.”

Adding to this Shilpa said–” I like to go with designer sensibilities. And if they don’t have a good sense of style I don’t work with him. Punit is someone who likes to keep it traditional. So I love his work. It’s got a very old-world charm to it. But his choice of fabrics and even the cuts are very modern.”
