Fashion’s most important night is almost here! The Costume Institute Benefit, also known as the Met Gala is an annual fundraising gala hosted by Vogue’s editor-in-chief, Anna Wintour, in New York. Taking place on the first Monday of May every year, the gala is a platform for designers and celebs to showcase their most creative and iconic looks. This is everything you need to know about the Met Gala 2025.
Date and Venue
Met Gala 2025 will be held on 5th May at New York’s Metropolitan Museum, celebrating an exhibition that explores the history of Black dandyism from the 18th century to present day.

Theme
This year’s Met Gala theme is “Superfine: Tailoring Black Style.” The theme explores the world of Black Dandyism: a cultural and fashion movement historically revolving around black men who used fashion as a form of self expression and resistance. The exhibition is also inspired by Monica L. Miller’s influential 2009 book, Slaves to Fashion: Black Dandyism and the Styling of Black Diasporic Identity.
Hosts and Co-chairs
Actor and playwright Colman Domingo, F1 racer Lewis Hamilton, rapper A$AP Rocky and singer Pharrell Williams join Anna Wintour as co-chairs this year. Basketball star LeBron James will serve as an honorary chair in what will be his first ever Met appearance.
Guest List
Though the guest list is being kept under wraps. Big names like Rihanna, Zendaya, Doechii and Shakira are speculated to stun at the red carpet among many others. Indian actress Kiara Advani is also set to make her Met Gala debut this year following Alia Bhatt, Deepika Padukone and Priyanka Chopra who attended the event in previous years.
Vogue’s Met Gala Issue
For their May issue, Vogue honoured the upcoming gala’s theme by featuring a number of black creatives including Ayo Edibiri, Yara Shahidi and Janelle Monáe for their editorial shoot. Styled by Law Roach, best known for working with Zendaya and Céline Dion. and photographed by Tyler Mitchell.
