Editor’s Pick: Simi’s Super Cute Kokeshi Doll Pendant

I was discussing this with a friend just the other day: If I wasn’t a fashion writer, I’d have been a travel writer for sure. I’m almost always consumed by wanderlust, but adulthood has other plans and I can’t travel as much as I’d like to. So I make do with knick-knacks and accessories that have some influence from around the world.

My latest #HauteList piece is this adorable Kokeshi doll pendant from the Mumbai-based luxury accessory label Forest Of Chintz, which channels my love for Japan in the most appropriate way!

Forest Of Chintz Momoko Kokeshi Pendant

Kokeshi dolls are traditionally handmade from wood in Japan, with a simple trunk, enlarged head, and a characteristic lack of arms and legs. Naturally, I love this embroidered twist to a traditional art form. When an accessory has so much character, even the most boring outfit can be livened up to new levels with it.

I love how Forest Of Chintz gives all of its products a playful and unusual aesthetic. This Momoko Kokeshi Doll Pendant from their Spring 2016 line is hand-beaded using silk thread, acrylic and seed beads. The hues only add to its fun element. Add this figurine to a neckpiece or pin it as a brooch on your favourite bomber jacker or LBD and watch those compliments roll in!
