Dolce & Gabbana Designed A Saree Taking Cues From This Indian Model!

Dolce & Gabbana exhibited its Alta Moda and Alta Sartoria collections in Italy’s Lake Como this weekend. The collection was inspired by the location of the show, i.e. Lake Como, and the historic waterfront villas and the aristocrats who have lived there throughout the ages, including Italian author Alessandro Manzoni, who is known as the Shakespeare of Italy, were the muses of the collection.

While the collection presented was very Italian, it had Indian elements as well, that included a sari and a headscarf. The custom-created saree was floral and paisley-printed, worn over a metallic blue blouse with exaggerated, puffy metallic sleeves.

The look was styled with oversized earrings, a classic gold watch, a small bracelet, a gold crown, a headgear that mimicked a matha patti and a tiny blue bag. A fresh face of makeup with red lips, and embellished flats topped the look!

For this saree, Dolce and Gabbana took their cues from Indian model Dipti Sharma. The designer duo asked Dipti Sharma to drape a piece of fabric like a saree as she normally would. Then they built their custom-made design around what Dipti had draped, putting the classic D&G touch into the good old Indian silhouette.

Dipti even expressed her delight in this insta post!

Well, Dipti looks great in this saree, and we love how traditional Indian fashion is making waves on international waters.
