#HauteHacks: Turn Your Old Dupatta Into A Kimono Jacket

I know we sort of skip from winter to summer in India, but hey, spring cleaning is a thing everywhere — a time when you celebrate the new and get rid off the old. But what if the old isn’t really thaaaat old? If you’re having a massive clear out of your wardrobe, what exactly do you do with clothes that are still viable. Well, point that magical DIY wand, guys.

Every Indian household has a bunch of dupatta scarves lying around (of course, if it’s managed to slip away from your mother’s pocha pile). Separated from their better halves, you’re left with a hundred odd dupattas that are still in shape. The solution to redeem them is quite simple, to be honest, and it’s summer-friendly too.

Turn your old dupattas or scarves into shrugs and kimonos. You can style it in different ways — jeans, shorts, skirts, dresses — the world is your oyster. If they are a little sheer, you can also wear them as beach cover-ups. See, one man’s trash can be turned into treasure…just need a little crafty magic, that’s all.
