Disha Patani has always put her obsession with K-pop on display. From following Korean fashion to taking makeup tips from her favourite K-pop idols, the actress makes sure to learn a lesson or two and practise it in her daily life as well. I mean, do y’ll remember the time, Ms Patani stepped out in an unusual tulle dress, and pigtails to promote her film–Ek Villain Returns? We think that hangover is still lingering around Disha’s wardrobe, as she again channels new-age Barbie in an elaborate photoshoot.
Collaborating with celebrity stylist–Mohit Rai, Disha shared a bunch of new pictures, paying homage to 90s fashion, and Barbiecore aesthetic. Dripping pink, and candy colours, Disha decorated her grid with an all-new aesthetic, taking the “new year, new me” resolution very seriously. And we’re still figuring out our take on the shoot. Let’s take a look at these pictures.
Bubblegum Blue
The first few pictures on her instagram grid, feature the actress in a bandeau knitted bralette by–Knits And More, teamed with a matching sweater and a checkered skirt in blue and violet by label–Rasti. Interestingly, Patani completed the look using a pair of fur-heel boots by label–Ego Official. She styled it all using a short bob, decorated with barrettes, and a heart-encrusted neck chain. While we love the boots, we’re still unsure of what the aesthetic is trying to convey.
A Knit Party
Making arm-warmers the it-trend of the year, the actress rounded up a look in a lemon green, knitted bralette, teamed with a matching pair of cosy winter gloves. Displaying her love for Y2K fashion trends, she further dressed her long hair bangs with baby braids and decorated them with colourful claw clips. To accessorise the look further, Patani used a quirky smiley-face neckpiece and glossy makeup.
Candy Floss
Look three on Disha featured her in an all-new avatar. Here, the actress donned a mermaid-blue hair wig. She is further seen wearing label–Lea Clothing’s Evangeline Grecian print corset, teamed with fuchsia pink and black sweater, which we think do not match the overall mood. For makeup, she takes cues from Euphoria and tries her hands on a rhinestone eye look.

And while many were surprised to see Disha stepping into her new, anime-inspired style era, some others blatantly commented by saying–“Chhoti bacchi ho kya?” Overall, we like how Disha dared to take a different sartorial route, but we ain’t sure if it all landed well. In all three pictures, we believe the styling is rather chaotic than dreamy. From the colours to overload woollen, and accessory layering, every picture has us confused. It feels like there is a statement still missing, while everything from her hair to her toes are overdressed to death. We hope that this new phase in Disha’s closet passes very very soon because it isn’t really working in her favour.
What do you think of the looks?
