Designer Labels On Our Radar For Every Bride-To-Be, That Are Not Sabyasachi!

The word wedding, in itself carries the glam, glitter and too much tamasha. An important event for Indians, shaadis are no less than a celebration. From the mandap, baraat to the dulhan’s lehenga, every little bit turns around to be a talking point for the invitees. And when it’s a celebrity getting hitched, the amount of joy suddenly bursts into XXL. Be it Deepika Padukone, Ranveer Singh or the latest duo to say ‘I do’- Katrina Kaif and Vicky Kaushal, all we could think and talk about was everything from their wedding venue to their D-Day outfits. Dressed head-to-toe in the classic Sabyasachi designs, celebrity brides have chanted the couturier’s name each time they planned to walk the aisle. I mean no offence to the iconic Sir Sabya but can we please see a little extra effort and experiment? I mean Indian fashion is known for its roaring bridal wear and is home to some exquisite creations by creative minds like Abu Jani Sandeep Khosla, Manish Malhotra and the new age labels like Papa Don’t Preach By Shubhika.
Offering a wide spectrum of modern and traditional designs, these names still find themselves uninvited at many larger than life celebrity weddings.
So, I have made a list of my favourite labels who excel in bridal wear and need an immediate mention if in case you’re planning to tie the knot this coming shaadi season.
Raw Mango
A name that is synonymous with bridal sarees, Raw Mango adds its aesthetic flavour to the old-world charm. The label champions bridal couture with colours like peacock green, deep maroon, and rich purple uniting with nostalgic elements. Opted by celebrity brides like Dia Mirza, the label is a one-stop shop for minimalist brides, who’d love to doll up in a drape that brings out the nuances of India’s cultural heritage.

Manish Malhotra
Bollywood’s dearest designer and costume stylist, Manish Malhotra has been the mind behind some iconic onscreen bridal looks. From styling Kareena Kapoor Khan’s character Pooja in K3G to Alia Bhatt in Student Of The Year, Mr Malhotra’s sartorial magic still remains fresh and relevant. A celebration of colours with a pinch of cinematic glamour, the “Kareena Kapoor wala red lehenga” continues to lead many inspiration lists. Bridging the gap between fashion and films the designer’s popular collections like Nooraniyat are counted in by brides like Natasha Dalal and Ankita Lokhande who looked nothing less than a dream in the designer’s signature sequin and zardozi embroidered ensemble.
