Deepika Padukone Dresses Up In Retro Fashion For Day 1 At Cannes Film Festival. But What Is With That Neckpiece?

Deepika Padukone is raising the style bar, one outfit at a time. I mean, the Gehraiyaan star has already been making headlines for joining the world’s top artists in the world of cinema as a member of the jury panel at the Cannes Film Festival. And now in freshly released pictures from the city of France, Deepika sizzles against the sky backdrop as she is seen dressed up in her favourite designer Sabyasachi’s designs on Day 1.

Yes, in the images released by Deepika Padukone, the Gehraiyaan actress wore a printed shirt, a pair of sap green pants and a matching bandana from the designer’s resort series–Tropic of Calcutta collection, where Indian heritage gets a contemporary update. Indeed a fun and floral update as given to the crisp formal wear, Deepika styled the printed Sabyasachi ensemble with chunky rani haar from the celebrated designer’s jewellery range. For earrings, Deepika opted for diamond drops and sealed her hair into a retro fashion messy bun, with a printed beige and green bandana gracing her crown. Amongst other forms of accessories, Deepika gives a fully-embellished, Indian spin to the pantsuit, as she mixes her leather wristwatch and belt with studded-gold platform heels and rani haar (which I am having second thoughts about).

And as always, Deepika has suggested again that it is always Sabya to mark shubh days. Right, DP?

For makeup, DP opted for subtle glam and settled for her signature winged eyeliner and a hint of berry lip shade. While I was hoping for a lot more from Deepika and of course her dearest stylist Shaleena too, this look has me doubting my faith in the two. Nevertheless, this is just the shuruwaat, picture abhi baaki hai friends.
