From Deepika Padukone’s Saree To Janhvi Kapoor’s Dupatta, Purple Is Ruling Festive Fashion!

It’s the season of weddings and festivities for Bollywood celebrities. With back-to-back grand weddings starting from Rakul Preet Singh, Jackky Bhagnani to now the Ambanis, stars are flocking to wedding venues in their favourite designer creations. Amidst the pool of trends and twinkling lehengas, what we spotted was a common love for the shade purple. Displaying the many hues of the shade, actresses like Janhvi Kapoor, and mom-to-be Deepika Padukone are likely to make purple, this season’s favourite festive shade. Here’s how you can style one too.

Ananya Panday’s Special Twirl

Twirling in a bright purple lehenga, Ananya Panday marked her presence at the Ambani Shiv Shakti puja in this shade. Picked from the shelves of Indian designer label–Raw Mango, Panday’s raw silk lehenga featured bright gold embroidery work with a simple blouse and a bandhani dupatta, adding a dash of traditional handicraft.

Janhvi Kapoor’s Colour Play

Unlike most celebrities, Janhvi chose to play with colours in a bright Anamika Khanna number. Kapoor’s ensemble featured a colourful blouse with scalloped edges and a multi-coloured lehenga. She punctuated the two-piece set with a bright purple dupatta, draped in Gujarati style, and accessorised with gemstone earrings. Like Kapoor, you can also pick the shade and style it a decent amount and curate a new colour combo.

Deepika Padukone And The Saree Saga

Mom-to-be Deepika Padukone welcomed purple into her maternity closet using a luxurious Torani saree. The handcrafted drape featured statement silver hand and machine embroidery with bold motif design. Here, Padukone curated a look using pearls and allowed purple to headline her ensemble.

Bride Radhika Merchant

For one of her pre-wedding rituals, bride Radhika Merchant also opted for aubergine purple and wore a custom-made Lord Krishna themed lehenga. Her ensemble featured a bride, bordered blouse, teamed with a skirt and a lehariya dupatta, draped in the Gujarati style.

Rakul Preet Singh’s Modern Twist

Back in February this year, actress Rakul Preet Singh also tied the knot with Jackky Bhagnani and turned out to be the coolest bride of the year. For one of her pre-wedding functions, Singh opted for a Papa Don’t Preach lehenga with signature bead work design and the shade purple serving as the hero colour. Like Rakul, soon-to-be brides and use the colour for a daytime event.

Sanjeeda Sheikh’s Pre-Draped Saree

Sheikh recently attended friend and Heeramandi co-star Sonakshi Sinha’s grand wedding reception. For the red carpet appearance, the actress opted for a shimmer-loaded, pre-draped saree. With loose ends and a slim pallu, she combined the look with an embellished strappy blouse and a silver heart-shaped bag. This silhouette is perfect for girls who struggle to drape a saree.
