We Love Aditi Rao Hydari’s Easy Chic Spin On A Lehenga
Didn’t I just mention that we’re going to be stalking Aditi Rao Hydari’s style all year around? Barely a few days later, she’s giving us more reasons to love her sartorial choices. Whether it’s the red carpet, promotional activities or off-duty style, we love her easy chic take on dressing. And her latest outing is this fresh, on-the-go ensemble, which is an endless source of inspiration on how to fuse Indian silhouettes with a Western spin in a fun way.
Seems like the memo for Aditi’s look here — clothes, hair, make-up et al — was fuss-free. The actress teamed a reversible lehenga by designer Natasha Davda with a black tank top and Bershka denim jacket, and I absolutely love the look. The idea of ethnic wear fused with a western edge is contemporary desi done right. The colour story of indigo and mustard is refreshingly modern, and the block print and ikat work gives it a chic edge. What’s more, it looks super lightweight and clearly doesn’t weigh you down. Given that lehengas are usually about heavy fabrics and excess embroidery and sequins, this is a version I quite like and one that’s oh-so-wearable. Paired with a fitted tank and light-wash denim jacket, the ensemble is easy and effortless but also very pretty.
If you plan to attend a big fat Indian wedding anytime soon, you might want to take a style cue or two from Aditi’s look here. Ditch the heavyweight lehenga-choli-dupatta for a lightweight version and pair it with a crisp formal shirt instead. I promise your ensemble will be a real conversation starter!
