From Boring Chandbaalis To Sequin Sarees, 5 Things In Celeb Festive Fashion That We’re Bored Of

Please retire these!

From Boring Chandbaalis To Sequin Sarees, 5 Things In Celeb Festive Fashion That We’re Bored Of

Almost every Bollywood celebrity is heading to a Diwali party this year, picking the most glamorous outfits for the occasion. From glitter sarees to slim cholis and diamond jewellery, everything is turning up the heat this Diwali. But wait, aren’t we bored of some of these constant fashion choices made by celebrities? I mean, a plethora of sequin sarees, co-ordinated sets and those old-school chandbaalis are something that we definitely want celebs to retire this season.

Co-ord Sets

While coordinated sets were introduced as a fresh new silhouette in this category of festive wear, many celebrities have styled it way too many times. An example of the same was visible last night at actress Sara Ali Khan’s Diwali bash, where guest Ananya, styled a pink festive set with minimal jewellery. Not only has the usual jacket and sharara set become boring, but also limits the scope of experiments.

Sequin Saree

Thanks to designer Manish Malhotra, the craze around sequin sarees has no expiry date. With every new festive season, this cult-favourite trend appears on the trend charts, in a variety of colours and patterns, but looks the same. While these sequin sarees remain a no-brainer choice for most celebrities, we hope to see some change, where the world can get rid of them for at least a year.

Rose Hair Accessories

Another favourite hair styling hack that many celebrities love is adding fresh flowers to their tresses. And while these flower-laden hairdos remain a classic formula of dressing for festivities, it definitely has become a tad boring too. Recently tried by actresses Sanya Malhotra and Tara Sutaria, rose-embellished hair buns need to retire.

Voluminous Lehengas

Lehengas and festivals go hand in hand, but can we please lessen the layer of can-can that makes them look so big? With the rising popularity of Disney-esqué designs, designers are experimenting with can-can-laden lehengas, that add more volume and structure to the classic silhouette. And while it looks dreamy and pretty, these massive skirts remain a cause of concern when it comes to comfort. An example of this was displayed at Manish Malhotra’s Diwali bash, where actress Kiara Advani could hardly walk the red carpet in her heavy lehenga.

Boring Chandbaalis

We know Chandbaalis are romantic and filmy, but jewellery is much more than just that. This season, we hope celebrities skip on the usual, shoulder-grazing designs and experiment with unique formats of accessories like a matha-patti, body chain, belly string, chokers or even haath phool.
