Deepika Padukone has been making frequent visits to the red carpet at the Cannes Film Festival this year, and each day comes with a brand new surprise for the internet. Managing her jury duties while making sartorial statements, Deepika Padukone has been juggling between her favourite brands Louis Vuitton and Sabyasachi to dress up only in the best. And now making another dazzling appearance on the scintillating carpet, DP and her stylist Shaleena Nathani have opted for a grand orange gown and the struggle is real.

Last night, Deepika Padukone walked the Cannes red carpet again, as she was seen dressed in an orange, one-shouldered gown by Ashi Studio. Dolled up in a custom orange, taffeta gown, Deepika’s Ashi Studio number featured a pleated and draped detail on one shoulder. Teaming the saffron orange outfit with contrasting earrings, DP completed the look with coral green earrings, subtle red lip shade and a neat low bun. While the look was a winner from every angle, what surprisingly has the internet in shock is DP’s struggle with the long train. Yes, that’s correct. In a video posted by Brut India, Deepika is seen walking the red carpet while managing her long train all by herself as she takes brief halts for photographs. As seen in the video, DP seems exhausted while having to throw her train at the back and managing to even walk in the limited legroom provided by the silhouette.

While celebrities at all times are seen walking in larger than life silhouettes for red carpet events, with their team taking care of the fabric trains, the Gehraiyaan star here has set an example that fashion without functionality is not really a masterpiece.

As soon as the video surfaced on the internet, people rushed to give their two bits on the dress and DP managing it all by herself. While some said, “What kind of fashion is this that one is not comfortable with..” some others appreciated Deepika for the extra effort and said, “Can we appreciate the fact that she single-handedly carried the entire outfit??” Take a look at some of these reactions.

Okay, I won’t deny the fact that I love the gown, especially the shade, but the practicality of the silhouette has died a slow death here. I mean it’s okay for stars to wear such stuff, ‘cos they have for years, but at what cost are you slipping into something so uncomfortable that you need an army to manage it with? I believe fashion is nothing but just a piece of art to look at, without functionality. The struggle here is real, and we only hope her team thinks twice before putting her in a piece like this. What do you think?
