Style Royalty Sauntered Down The British Fashion Awards Red Carpet And The Ensembles Are ‘Wicked!’

British Fashion Council’s annual event, titled ‘The Fashion Awards’, is one of the most prestigious award ceremonies in the world. The annual event is known for highlighting the best of fashion in a year, not just on a superficial level, but individuals and businesses who have made a real difference with it. It also happens to be one of the most highly anticipated red carpet events, just behind the Met Gala and the Cannes Film Festival.

Held at the Royal Albert Hall, London, the red carpet at this stylish soiree is hallowed ground for fashion royalty. Some of our modern fashion icons like Lady Gaga and Zendaya first blossomed as guests at for the council on one of these nights. It also happens to be the hottest event for the most influential supermodels, both British and global.

This year was no different either. The original looks we saw on the carpet are bound to go down as some of the best ones of the year.

Naomi Campbell In Alexander McQueen

First up, the OG supermodel since the 90s (we were only babies when she had already established herself as a goddess), was the recipient of the prestigious ‘Fashion Icon’ title. In the pre-show interviews, celebrity guests couldn’t gush more about seeing Naomi on stage being honoured with this generation-defining award. She said in her acceptance speech, “I am grateful to my entire team, and to the list of amazing photographers, editors, stylists and designers I’ve had the opportunity to work with.  And lastly, thank you to all the women of colour that came before me who I consider style icons. You have paved the way for me and inspired a generation. This award is for you”.

Rihanna In Fenty

Who has time for gowns when you are busy being super-rich and winning awards as Rihanna did with Urban Luxe snag last night? The award celebrates the innovation and influence of a contemporary apparel brand which elevates “casual” to high-end and directional fashion. The woman looks like a million bucks and we won’t be surprised if she is as well, with all those statement diamonds!

Emilia Clarke In Schiaparelli

On a regular day, the folded detailing on Emilia’s lemon yellow ensemble would count as an “unfinished garment”,  but on this night it was just so chic. We are enchanted by the offbeat silhouette of this creation, that sleeve train being the exact touch of high glam we expect from ‘the mother of dragons’!

Adut Akech As ‘Model Of The Year’

It was such a wholesome moment seeing South Sudanese refugee turned Australian citizen Adut Akech win this high honour. She said in her acceptance speech, “It is important for all of us to remember that someone like me winning this award is a rarity. This is for the young women and men who found representation and validation in my work. I want them to never be afraid of dreaming big like I once did”. Preach!

Elsa Hosk In Celia Kritharioti

There is a reason why the Gigi Hadids of the world are so good at their game! They are active participants of what kind of fashion they are doing and sometimes even become a part of the creative process. This is why Elsa Hosk’s high fashion lungi at the carpet is so fascinating to us. She joined forces with the label Celia Kritharioti to make the ensemble for her. How cool!

Shailene Woodley In Moncler

I guess it comes in handy to be a stunning leggy beauty if you are about to wear a massive puffer dress on a red carpet. Shailene Woodley’s Moncler hooded gown is a fashion moment in itself, elevated by her casual charm. We love her!

Lily James In Valentino

Look at that big bow, just look at it! This has got to be the biggest bow we’ve seen on the red carpet of a major fashion event, it’s just too risky. Also, all nicely primmed in the front? No, for anyone else but ‘hell yes!’ for Lily. Cinderella can never go wrong with such a statement.

A special shout-out to Imran Amed, Founder & CEO- The Business of Fashion, for rocking Sabyasachi as his sartorial pick for the night…

….and pop star Rita Ora for doing this ‘sickening’ eye look:

We’ll surely fail at this ten times before we get it right this party season!
