Boi’s Budget Buys: The NYFW Inspired Look

One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 10,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? The Fall edition of The New York Fashion Week just came to a close, and boy did it give us some serious fashion inspo for the year. Not only did the collections on the ramps blow our minds (hello, Ralph Lauren), but the street style we saw outside the venue were serious goals. Given the freezing NYC temperatures, models, bloggers, and the who’s who of the international fashion fraternity (including our very own Deepika Padukone — yay) were seen sporting some super stylish outfits, all the while being warm and comfy. Do I hear a win-win?

I’m loving the idea of layering a ruffled dress with a pair of distressed denims. So cool, no? The blazer/jacket over it may be a bit much for us, since winter is well on its way out. But no reason we can’t replicate this cool look, am I right?

So that’s what I’ve done this week. This yummy little ruffled lilac dress from The Label Life looks like it was made to be paired with this pair of Forever 21 distressed boyfriend jeans. With the dress as the hero(ine) element of the ensemble, I’m keeping the accessories minimalistic — nude pointy-toe pumps (don’t miss the l’il bow at the back), a nude purse with some piping detailing, and shades matching the dress. Fun, flirty, feminine, and yet grungy — totally up my alley.

The cool thing about this look is that you can easily take this from brunch to bar — you know, on one of those Saturdays you’re spending the entire day with the girls. If you’re not one to wear heels all day long, swap ’em with a pair of kicks (our fave footwear), and you’ll still be just as stylish. I’m off for my Saturday date day with my girlies.
