Boi’s Budget Buys: The AM To PM Look

By  |

One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 10,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!

There’s something to be said about a look well put together. It shows a sense of style, it shows effort, and most importantly, it shows off a considerable part of your personality. The way you dress reflects who you are. Which is why dressing up for work every day is one of my fave activities, and writing this column is the highlight of my week.

Layering is one of the best, most effective ways of putting a look together. Long line jackets, cropped blazers, bombers, boyfriend shirts — Throw on one over almost any outfit, and you’ll immediately and significantly be upping the cool quotient. So this week, I scoured the net high and low (OK, that may be a little dramatic) to find something to layer with, thus upping a cute ensemble to a super cool one.

So, I’m not a leather person. At all. But faux leather I can get on board with. But that’s not why I love this skirt. I absolutely adore this skirt (yes, add to cart has already happened) because of the colour. Is it blue? Is it green? Is it turquoise? Who can say? Also, it’s elastic, so you won’t have to cry copious tears about the size being a little off (or your tummy being a little off) in the changing room (no, that has *never* happened to me *slinks away*). I’m pairing the skirt with the flowy coral tank that you should ideally tuck into the skirt, but remember to do it loosely, fluffing a  bit of it out, maybe covering the elastic waistband. Also, coral is another colour I’m obsessed with.

Then comes the hero (or heroine, as I prefer) piece — the cropped denim shirt. So easy, right? Just throw on this baby and the look really transforms, don’t you think? No worries about your love handles spilling out or sucking in your tummy while strutting your stuff. Man, I love fashion hacks. The shirt’s slightly boxy silhouette adds the right amount of edge to the look too.

The boots would definitely be the supporting main protagonist of this look. Suede. Check. Fringes. Check. Haute. Check. I would much prefer wearing these babies with a skirt or a dress to pants, so as to show them off in their full glory. Sticking to the same colour family, the appliqué bag is simple and small, and yet enough to hold all your essentials.

Top off the look with a simple yet funky accessory, so as not to steal focus from the rest of it, like this pendant choker neckpiece. Those lips! I dare you not to love.

So there you have it — a head-to-toe high-street look curated to make you really stand out. It’s got style and it’s got character, with minimal effort. Wear it for the brunch, for the movie date, and for the all-night bar-hopping scene later on — I tell you, you’ll be so on-point. And all under 10k.

If you’re trying this look, do do do send us your pics and selfies. Share that attitude, girl!
