Boi’s Budget Buys: The Brocade Blouse

One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 10,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!

Yay! This is truly my favourite time of the year — especially because this time of the year lasts approximately 4 months. India is THE place to be during the festive season. Amazing food (read: let’s get fat), twinkly lights, gifts from your friends and family, and great ethnic and fusion fashion. While we love our western silhouettes all year round, this is the time to bring out the big guns — saris, lehengas, shararas, the works. Lucky for us, India is a hotbed for stunning fabrics, flattering cuts, and beautiful textures. So to celebrate the beginning of the festive season, I’ve picked an ethnic-inspired fusion outfit this week, that works just as well for the Diwali card party as it does if you plan to head to a nightclub afterward.

I truly believe brocade is one of the best things to have come out of our country. Anything brocade instantly ups an outfit — blouse, top, skirt, pants, you name it. While scouring the net this week, I quite literally stumbled upon this very pretty, very sexy brocade blouse in a lovely teal-meets-emerald hue. It was love at first sight. Since the festive season is all about bright colours, I’ve paired it with a perky orange ghagra skirt and subtle accessories in the rose gold family. Wear this outfit with gold smoky eyes with wing tips, some light blush, and a nude lip colour with brown undertones.

I already know when and where I’m wearing this — are you gonna try it too? If you do, I’d love to have a look-see! Send us your comments and pics STAT!
