Boi’s Budget Buys: The Unpredictable Athleisure Vibe

The athleisure trend came in like a storm this year and has been sitting pretty ever since — clearly not going anywhere, any time soon. And why not? It’s uber chic, it’s super comfy, and it’s versatile — there’s so much you can do with it. Plus, let’s be honest — it’s the lazy’s girl’s guide to good dressing. Throw on some cool, comfortable pieces together, and you’ll have yourself a head-turning athleisure look — sounds good to me!
Taking inspo from the various oh-so cool fashion bloggers around the block and some very stylish young Hautelets at the Hauterfly HQ, I’ve put together a funky, chic athleisure look — one you can wear when you’re lazing around with your gang on the weekend, or even to the 5,000 music festivals and gigs lined up for the remainder of this year.
Yes, I like all things shiny, so the metallic sweatshirt shouldn’t be a surprise here. I’ve paired this jumper (which, BTW, looks comfy enough to sleep in) with some camo joggers. Why, you ask? Because camo is in, as is joggers. Can you really go wrong with this one?
Add some funky wedge trainers to tie this look together, along with some funky reflector shades and a sporty, statement beaded cuff. What I personally love about this look, if I do say so myself, is its unpredictability. Shimmer meets sporty meets texture meets trendy. Look at the pieces individually and you may not be able to envision the whole look together, but put it all together, and trust me, you’ll feel good and confident.
Which is why I think it’s important to look at our wardrobes every now and then, pull out unlikely pieces and throw ’em all together — not only will you be surprised with what you see in the mirror, but that’ll be the day you receive the most number of compliments. Go on, I dare ya.
