Boi’s Budget Buys: Power Dressing Through Winter

Boi’s Budget Buys: Power Dressing Through Winter

One universal fashion problem for most girls is, “What do I wear today?” This question has the power to reduce us to a hysterical mess. Fashionista or not, nobody wants sartorial answers that cost a fortune. And let’s just be honest, you’re THE style star if you know how to dress to the nines on a budget. So I’ve taken up this Herculean task: every Saturday, I’ll round up a budget-friendly ensemble for you, all BELOW Rs 10,000. Yes! It’s going to be an entire outfit — from head-to-toe — without breaking the bank. Quite a challenge, right? Scroll down to shop this budget ensemble, and don’t forget to come back every Saturday to discover an outfit that’s yet another steal!

I don’t know about you, but my butt is freezing off…like I’m becoming Boi-cicle — and I live in Mumbai *facepalm*. To be fair, a) I’m Bengali (hello, have you not heard of our famed monkey caps and mufflers?), and b) I haven’t donned a sweater or jacket yet, this season. I’ve been, as most of us have, making do with layers and more layers. Over my tiny little dresses and skirts — sudden clarity on why I’m always cold is happening…

Anyhoo, I decided to stop torturing myself and slip into winter mode. Also, I’m off to Delhi next week and *that* cold…I gotta be prepared yo! Which brings me to this week’s winter-cool look. Chic, trendy, and most importantly, warm. Yep, I know you sacrifice NOTHING for the sake of fashion, but if you can be stylish and utilitarian, there’s nothing like it.

You know, I love skinny jeans. They can really transform your look. They give you butt an instant lift, and give a definite form and structure to your lower body. And of course, you can pair ’em denims with ERRYTHING. So this week, I’m pairing my Forever 21 skinnies with a few layers to keep cosy from all the BRRR.

A simple, neutral tank paired like this baby blue one from Forever New, with a tailored Mango blazer is actually a complete look in itself, no? But must we stop there? I think not. Add a similarly neutral hued pair of brogues (these textured pair from Dressberry ones are my faves) and a sober, understated Koovs handbag. Shall we stop here?

Now you must be wondering: this girl is not one for subtle, sombre looks. And you wonder right! An understated look, though powerful in itself, can be instantly turned into a party with one bright, funky accessory, and that’s what I’ve saved for last. This pop mustard yellow scarf from Zara. Wrap it around your neck, tuck it into your blazer, and voila! Your entire ensemble has been taken up by several notches AND you’ll be warm and toasty, no matter where you are! Plus, this look works for office, for a day out with the girls or even for a date — trust me, your boy won’t be able to take his eyes off his power-dressed girl!

So I’m off to cosy up in this super sexy, super sophisticated look. You can expect my selfies soon, can I expect yours too?
