Lalisa Manobal, popularly known as Lisa (of BLACKPINK), stunned in a beautiful golden floor-length gown at a recent red carpet appearance on January 28, 2026. Ethereal and elegant in the custom dress inspired by Thailand’s traditional costume, the pop star’s outfit drew inspiration from the garments worn by the Queen Mother of Thailand, Sirikrit. The Queen passed away towards the end of 2025, so the tribute to her personal style was really touching.
From the 1960s to 2026: The Journey To BLACKPINK Lisa’s Gorgeous Gown
Designed by Pierre Balmain, the original piece worn by the departed Queen was part of the French designer’s 1960 Haute Couture Spring-Summer Collection. Called the ‘Nuit à Londres’, the design was specifically reworked for Lisa.
About the dress itself, it features a polished blend of Thai culture and French sensibilities. With a shorter court train that complements the flowy yet well-draped silhouette, the warm citron gown had classic Thai embroidery details on the bust, sleeves, and long stole. Created with silks developed in the Southeast Asian country, the colours (rose gold with yellowish-green) build on the majestic nature of Lisa’s outfit. She paired the outfit with a bow-shaped clutch purse from a Thai brand and a crimson ruby necklace with matching button earrings.
In actuality, the gown is more than just a simple homage. It marks 170 years of continued Thai-French diplomacy. Therefore, elaborating on the late Queen’s goals, Lisa carries the baton for foreign relations via fashion.
Lisa As Thailand’s Pride
The Thai K-pop idol never shies from speaking about her native country’s culture and heritage. For example, she wore a take on a traditional costume of brocade silk in the ‘LALISA’ music video. Picked from Thai-owned brands, all elements of the ensemble screamed that her name was synonymous with Thailand. This was apparent even in the above dress.
Recently hired as Thailand’s tourism ambassador, Lalisa once spoke fondly of her hometown, Buriram, and how she misses the food at the place’s train station in 2022. Unsurprisingly, her casual statement boosted sales for the vendors. As Lisa of BLACKPINK and a soloist, she brought positive attention to the country’s culture. While she may not be the first Thai K-pop idol, her influence and popularity cannot be denied.
