We Think Balenciaga Should Name Its New Towel Skirt Saawariya And Get Ranbir Kapoor To Endorse It! 3:19 Or this

Alexa play Saawariya!

Fashion has become more about memes and less about art. Taking centre stage are clickbaity designs, in which many popular designer houses are rooting themselves. But wait, is it something that we really want? We don’t think so. Something similar was brought to light when Balenciaga presented its latest avant-garde design. Inspired from a bathroom towel, Balenciaga’s latest skirt is actually a towel, wrapped around the waist.

Envisioned by the brand’s creative genius–Demna Gvasalia, the design was presented on the fashion runway of Paris, during the Spring 2024 showcase. The knee-length skirt is made up of a terry-cotton towel and is available in a variety of colour options. The unisex design with adjustable features a stiff belt and some fancy buttons. But if you remove so, it is basically your usual towel. And while the design is already so bizarre, what surprised us the more was the price tag.

Priced at $925 which is approximately INR 77,000, the towel skirt has already raised many eyebrows. Reacting to the same, netizens dropped their views in the comments section and enquired what made the brand, design something like this. Some others also lashed out at the designer house for making clickbaity fashion, and intentionally doing so for attention. Well, we agree with them. It definitely isn’t the first time that Balenciaga has brewed a gimmick like this through its designs.
