King Charles III And Queen Camilla Celebrated India At The Animal Ball In Sabyasachi Masks

Many Indian celebrities like Janhvi Kapoor, Manish Malhotra and Sabyasachi flew down to London for the Animal Ball 2023. Representing India, the star designers made an impeccable appearance in Indian-born designs. And new pictures from the ball presented a proud moment for Indian designer Sabyasachi. In pictures posted on his Instagram handle, the designer dropped pictures of King Charles III & Queen Camilla, sporting custom masks designed by him.

Posing for pictures, King Charles and Queen Camilla were seen sporting the Shola Mask from Sabyasachi. Bring local stories and Indian craftsmanship to the forefront, the elephant-motif masks by Sabyasachi is handmade design, made using age-old artisanal techniques and materials in collaboration between the artists from the Sabyasachi Art Foundation and the master craftspeople of Bengal. Celebrating Bengal’s long-lived craft of shola pith, the masks pay homage to India’s rich history in culture and design. Mentioning the story behind the crafted masks, the caption mentioned–”Every year the craftspeople make decorations for the deities and entire structures during the Durga Puja celebrations—that is a part of UNESCO’s Representative List of the Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity.”

The spectacular white masks represented India in the finest forms. Other pictures from the ball, featured deigned Sabyasachi, interacting with King Charles and his Queen, as seen dressed in a bandhgala kurta, pyjama and shawl. The Animal Ball attended by Indian stars is a special charity function held annually in London.
