If you’ve ever described an eyelet design to your BFF with the words “design with holes” or “tabletop style embroidery”, then it’s time for a crash course in fashion education!
In theory, an eyelet is defined as a small hole designed to receive a cord or used for decoration. But, in fashion, it comes in a few different forms. Some eyelets are the ones we see are on boots and bags…a hole with a metal ring around it. The other is an embroidery technique used to stitch garments. UK-based avant-garde label Alexander McQueen particularly favours this style in high fashion with dresses and blouses with punctured perforations that resemble beautiful doilies. For us, it has always been associated with cute tops and dresses we might pick up for date night. You know, like a peek-a-boo moment.

The crop top and skirt co-ord sets are an underrated- they make for adorable statements and make for a good investment. The matching sets can sail us through the “I have nothing to wear” days. A popular 2000s trend, the co-ord came back in vogue in the form of fun prints and designs. Having said that, we love the pretty eyelet cut-outs on Ananya’s ensemble. Co-ords or not, we want to try this look for ourselves, before it gets too cold to do so!
Here are some of the cute pieces we are looking at to get acquainted with the look, and they are all so versatile!
