Ananya Panday’s Pink Blazer Dress Promotional Look Isn’t Working For Her. Fire Your Stylist!
One of our guilty pleasures, other than binging on reality TV, is to do deep dives on where designer outfits originate from. Designers have so many stories to tell with a particular look, especially when it is customised for a celebrity. The subtle details that creators add to suit a celeb’s personality better are fun to decode. They can provide an insight into what designers make of style stars and the kinds of experimental they would like to see them in. As interesting as the prospect sounds, a recent look from one of our favourite fashion girls Ananya Panday failed to stick.
The actress has been adding fabulous looks to her rolodex for the promotions of Pati Patni Aur Woh. From adorable wrap skirts to feathered sleeves that look like a teenage dream, we have been crushing on her outfits. But a certain pink blazer dress she wore yesterday was underwhelming, to say the least.

The Bad Fit
Ananya chose a a custom made exposed blazer corset dress with kilt pleats from Nauman Piyarji. The caged exposed midriff, while fascinating, turned into a bad fit for her body type. The pleats looked shabby, the length is all wrong (you’ve got to see it from the back!) and is an overall missed opportunity for a sexy AF party dress. You don’t need a lot to turn out a great look with an unconventional silhouette. They all play with the straight lines of a statement formal look and turn them into a more feminine version of themselves. The fact that blazer dresses have been hugely popular this season is yet another instance of updated power dressing being the norm in fashion. And we love that!

Back to the fashion fumble at hand, any one of the above design routes could have saved her from this. But we believe in re-branding mistakes as lessons and here’s what we learned…when picking a chic blazer dress for a fancy office party or even a New Year bash with friends, look for straight fits that won’t disturb the symmetry of a look. If you want to wear a cute flowy dress, wear a cute flowy dress. Don’t expect a structured blazer to reproduce that silhouette, because it won’t.
