How To Wear A Lace-Up Top Like A Celebrity!

If you’re looking to elevate the cool quotient of a rather plain-jane outfit, all you need to do is add a lace-up top to the mix. Yes, this 70s trend — that has the capacity to oscillate between subtly sexy to super oomphy! — has caught up big time this season, and we have no qualms about wearing it whatsoever.

While a lace-up top hasn’t really been popularised here in India, we recently spotted two really well-done versions of the trend. One on Bollywood darling Alia Bhatt, and the other on popular style blogger Santoshi Shetty of Style Edge.

 

 

Recently, Alia Bhatt ditched her girly-girl avatar and wore a sexy lace-up detail mini dress that she teamed with a black and gold belt. The actress completed her look with a pair of pointy-toed gold stilettos. I like how she makes this OTT ensemble seem day-appropriate; she achieves this by teaming gold and beige, making the look pretty neutral. Also, she kept her makeup minimal, with the only drama coming from those smokey eyes. This is a perfect look for a Saturday evening scene; you’re bound to fetch a number of compliments with it.

 

 

Giving us another bold look is Santoshi, who wore a lace-up body suit with a pair of cropped pants, both from Dorothy Perkins. The blogger layered the look with a voluminous summer jacket and a pair of fringed heels in bright orange. I like how she has styled the look from head to toe, making that sexy top look so daytime ready. The striped jacket adds to the casual look. But like the blogger mentions in her post, it is “a semi-formal, fierce look for a cocktail or office party!” If you’re one to rock a bold sartorial move unapologetically and carry it off like a boss, I suggest you try this look STAT.
