5 Ways To Pamper Yourself At Home During This Quarantine

Stress and anxiety – two feelings that earlier would only make a guest appearance in my life every now then – have suddenly now become a permanent part of my life it seems, courtesy the pandemic. It’s not like before we had a deadly virus coming to get us all we were less stricken with worry  but we will go ahead and say that a lockdown in such a situation that along with keeping us safe is also keeping us away from all our temptations and routine lifestyle and it has not helped with handling those emotions well, or at all.

From having a break down once a few months about things spiralling out of control, to having one every three days for there aren’t things left to spiral out of control anymore, this is the kind of standstill that has driven even the most sane ones to the edge. Our emotions have been getting the better of us and blame it on our self-realisations or worried calls from family and relatives, but seems we can’t really get a grip on ourselves.

And in my own experience, one thing that has worked out best for me in all times of stress and anxiety, after retail therapy of course, has been pampering myself. With an unusual combination of resources being limited and time being in abundance, here is a list of 6 things that I have been managing to do to pamper myself even during this quarantine…

With our fast paced lives coming to a complete halt, it has given us plenty of time to explore the options of self care which includes trying our hands a little at a few home remedies that we only had the time to bookmark till now. Peel those potatoes, prepare that turmeric face mask and give yourself a home-facial to take care of your skin which you’ve been neglecting for so long now. Chances are, you’ll come out feeling  relaxed and refreshed, just like your skin!

Yes, you are not stepping out of your house except for those once a week grocery runs, but that doesn’t mean you should step out looking like you ran out of fucks. Especially those tired feet and hands. Recreate the salon experience of giving yourself a manicure and pedicure at home, by indulging in some nice soaking, cleansing and grooming that is sure to leave you feeling rejuvenated!

There are studies that corroborate how taking long and relaxing baths can instantly cheer a person up, and as someone who has made this a part of her daily routine, I can vouch for it. Pour yourself a nice bath, bring out those expensive bath salts you were saving for later and treat yourself to some cherished me-time by lighting scented candles, playing soothing music and for a moment, forgetting about the outside world!

Indulging in comfort food

By that we do not recommend you ordering in KFC, especially now when anything coming from outside comes with a lethal risk, but trying to indulge in some old ghar ka khaana, that was the OG comfort food of its time. Be it your mom’s rajma chawal or your own special rendition of maggi, take out time to prepare a happy meal for yourself and enjoy it like you would have before.

Create a home theatre

Yes, Netflix and Prime have become our only respite in these desperate times, but even binge watching can be turned up a notch every now and then. Amplify your binge-sessions by changing the setting of your laptop or tv to a more alluring one, by putting out those fairy lights, making a cozy space for yourself with  your most comfortable throw, a tub of popcorn and pouring out a glass of wine, or in these days – even lemonade. Turn it up a notch and watch yourself feeling better almost instantly!
