LFW 2016: Modern Meets Traditional At Anand Kabra

Fashion took a detour from the runway and headed to a parking lot on the first day of Lakme Fashion Week Summer Resort 2016. But when it’s Anand Kabra, maybe you should have expected the unexpected. The designer, who is known for his modern-meets-traditional take on clothing, used embroidery work like gota, resham, pitta and mirror work and zari on contemporary silhouettes. The colour story consisted of beige, maroon, midnight blue and gold, all of which complemented each other perfectly. Showcasing Indian wear, Kabra’s collection was mainly made of floor-length anarkalis, jackets and saris as well as lehengas and shararas. The beige sharara with heavily-gota embroidered kurta that was layered with a mirror-work cropped jacket, was one of my favourites from this collection. There was also an Indian interpretation of the jumpsuit in midnight blue, which was teamed up with a gold-embroidered jacket. All in all, a perfect translation of modern-meets-traditional.
