Orange, Blue & Green… Day 3 Of AIFW Was All About The Eyes

If I was a tad disappointed with the beauty looks on Day 2 of Amazon India Fashion Week Autumn Winter 2016, I have to admit that Day 3 was nothing short of a stunner. For someone who is obsessed with dressing up her eyes with bright colours, the looks at most of the shows were #MakeupGoals. Here’s what I loved from some of the shows:

Ascetic Half-Up Top Knot

Buns in every variant have become a socially acceptable hairstyle and not just something that goes with you PJs while you #NetflixAndChill. While 2015 was the year of the half-up top knot, models at Chandrani Siingh’s show wore buns that were loosely wound with wild tendrils framing the face. Very ascetic-inspired, very Indian!

Orange Eyeliner

For someone who prefers doing up her eyes more than anything else and loves bright beautiful colours, the zesty orange eyeliner at Reynu Tandon‘s show was arresting, to say the least. I cannot tell you how much I’m in love with the subtly flicked orange liner. Wonder if the make-up from Monique Lhuillier’s Summer 2016 show was the inspiration behind this look?

Indigo Stripe

Anupama Dayal‘s show was inspired by the Naga tribes, and you would have to be blind to have missed the stripe of indigo paint that models wore across their eyes from temple to temple. I have always had a soft corner for all shades of blue and I think this indigo looks beautiful against Indian complexion. Make-up Artist Elton J Fernandez complemented the indigo stripe with super strong contours, brushed up brows, kajal, and lip balm. Perfection!

Military Green Smoky Eyes

The Pankaj & Nidhi show was military-inspired and was complemented by models wearing heavy smoky eyes in an enthralling military green with just the tiniest hint of shimmer. Check out the process here. Glitter glue was used to dab the shimmer on the outer corners. Falsies helped open up the eyes (you know how dark smoky eye make-up can actually make your eyes look smaller), and the look was balanced with matte nude lips. The look was stunning.
