Zhao Lusi has recently been working on the bamboo mushroom project to revitalise agriculture. The actress mentioned that she has used her background in design to personally rebrand the project and attract young consumers to the places selling bamboo mushrooms by setting up trendy pop-up stores.

Other than boosting the bamboo mushroom sales, Zhao Lusi’s project also has wider benefits. Several farmers have come forward to thank the Hidden Love actress for her contribution. The rising demand has allowed local factories to hire more workers, hence generating employment for many middle-aged and elderly women.

Zhao Lusi’s impact and popularity in China also became evident when she saved a struggling tea shop from closure by mentioning it on her Weibo livestream. Within minutes, over 2,000 orders poured in.

However, despite her kind gestures and success, many accused the actress of profiting from her charity work. Lusi quickly shut down these rumours by confronting the hate comments on her live by saying that she wishes that people put this much effort into doing their jobs.
