Women across the globe continue to face disparity in their pay irrespective of their profession. This problem is very evident in the film industry and is something that has seen no change over the years. The veteran actress Zeenat Aman recently took to her social media handle to talk about this issue and how actresses still have to face the struggle that even she went through 50 years back.
Zeenat Aman is very active on her social media handle and uses the medium to voice her opinions on it. She recently shared a short video clip from the time when she was shooting the famous ‘Laila Main Laila’ song from Qurbani. In the clip, she was also seen giving an interview to a famous journalist Keith Adam where she talked about the kind of change that was coming in the film industry for women.
In the caption of this video, Zeena Aman wrote that the kind of roles actresses are opting for has clearly evolved over the years. However, she also went on express her concerns about the pay disparity that continues to exist in the industry. Talking about her days, Zeenat Aman wrote that she was considered one of the highest-paid actresses of those times but there was still a wide gap between her pay and the male co-actors. Elaborating on the same, she wrote that the actresses put in an equal amount of work and are still not paid equally. She also wrote that the change can primarily be brought about by the male producers and actors and it’s time that they ensured equal pay in the industry. Zeenat Aman also wrote that it is not a revolutionary change but still will be considered a huge one.
Time and again, actresses have spoken out on this issue but it still feels like a change that is nearly impossible.
