The 33-year-old singer opened up about his past relationship with ex Gigi Hadid and Khai, their daughter, whose joint custody they share. During the chat, Zayn Malik said, “I’d like to keep her away from it, you know, but at the end of the day, if she’s happy … I’ll support her.” The former One Direction member was then asked if he was a ‘hypocrite’ if he ever told her not to be in a girl group or a part of the music industry, to which he said, “Yeah, I won’t be able to say that.” He then admitted that he would support her wish of becoming a K-pop star, but if it were up to him, he would keep her away from some of the headaches of the job.
This is not the first time the musician has discussed his daughter’s interest in K-pop. When Zayn teamed with BLACKPINK’s Jisoo on the single EYES CLOSED, he revealed that his five-year-old had an important influence on his decision to work with the K-pop idol. Speaking to BBC Radio 1, the singer stated that his daughter’s feelings for Jisoo affected his decision to take on the role.

Zayn’s fifth solo album, Konnakol, will be released on April 17 via Mercury Records/Island Records UK, and it is currently available for pre-order. Following the release, he will begin the Konnakol Tour on May 12 at the AO Arena in Manchester, England. He will travel North America, South America, Mexico, and the United Kingdom, marking his first major tour since leaving One Direction in 2015.
