Korean Streamer Yoon Ji Ah Killed By Superfan After She Attempted To Cut Ties With Him

Yoon Ji Ah’s death has raised serious questions following reports that her body was found with bruises and strangulation marks. Officials think she was assaulted about 30 minutes after she went live for the last time from Yeongjong Island, Incheon, over three hours away from where the body was later discovered.

The prime suspect in her killing was named as Choi, a 50-year-old man, said to be living a double life. He presented himself to Yoon Ji Ah as the head of an IT firm, but was also building up a reputation online as a spendthrift under the handle Black Cat. While he was one of TikTok’s most popular VIPs, spending thousands on Streamers, it is alleged that Choi was heavily indebted, and his home had been confiscated by authorities, following his failure to pay his dues.

Local reports suggest Yoon had grown increasingly uncomfortable with Choi’s controlling behaviour, unreasonable schedules, and coercive instructions, and she wanted to end their partnership. Security footage showed Choi kneeling and begging her not to terminate their relationship just hours before her death.

Yoon Ji Ah was then later seen on CCTV cameras being forcibly stopped from getting out of a car at 3:27 p.m. on Sept. 11, her family said. Her body was subsequently dumped in a field on the side of a Muju mountain. Her cause of death was asphyxiation due to neck compression, which was confirmed by an autopsy.

Choi was reportedly seen carrying a suitcase at the time of Yoon’s disappearance and was said to have stopped several times along the way, apparently to deceive the authorities. He initially denied any role when arrested on Sept. 13, but subsequently confessed after police found the Korean influencer’s body.
